. there is something they are concerned about with mitt romney, which is why they are undecided. in 10 states, two weeks ago, there were 6% of the voters undecided. that is a pretty significant amount. it sounds like a small number, but a pretty significant amount. did that 6% look at romney last night and say, this is somebody i feel a lot better about than i did coming into this debate. some were not paying attention and some were. for those who were not -- who were paying attention, the answer has to be yes. i think you will see a bump in the polls for romney. 67% believed that romney won the debate. that is a stunning number. usually, our side thinks our guy one and their side thinks there got one. -- thinks their guy won. it was pretty decisive. >> explain to a group of people -- i doubt there is an undecided voter in this room. what do undecided voters look like? >> the kind of people who tell the waiter to come back at a restaurant because they have not made up their mind. states. >> now, the romney campaign has already, you know, argued that these numbers aren't strong enough and that real unemployment number is 11% if you count everybody who is not even looking for work. but the bottom line for the obama campaign is his slogan is forward. and the argument there making is he has been trying to dig the economy out of a massive hole. we were facing this economic collapse and he came into office and he has a long way to go. he needs four more years to make the difference that he's -- that we're starting to make now. and that we just need to believe that his policies do make a difference. he can now point to the data to say, look, they're making that difference. >> so that tells me even though we for so many people, the psychological number, eight, not that we're under the 8% mark in unemployment, do the obama folks think we're not over the hump, economically speaking? >> they concede that and that people are still hurting and what matters to people at home is not some number that the labor department puts out, but their own economic circumstance and whether t
't have a $5 trillion tax cut. >> mitt romney has existed in a state of what we say quantum uncertainty. the way you break this down. i don't think he has been inconsistent on this. he has a tax cut. if you implemented it, what he says though, and has said from the beginning is that he will pay for that tax cut. when you include that sentence, he then says fairly scored, i have promised as a later date to pay for it. the question has been how are you going to pay for it? why should we believe you when no republican in 20 or 30 years has paid for a tax cut. i'm not sure it is wrong for romney to say that he is going to do a $5 trillion tax cut. the problem is he hasn't told us a word about how he is going to pay for it. the three things he wants to do, have the 20% across the board rate cut and have it paid for while protecting a bunch of tax cuts, they can't be done at once. something has to give and we don't know what it will be. >> he is wrong. because, if we give them the allowance that you are willing to give him, that will be the first time in the history of the discussion of tax p
